Hit and run...

Just swinging by to keep this thing going. ^_^" I've been fairly busy these past weeks working two jobs so not a lot of time for crafting so no new posts. Then when I finally pair it down to one job and I'm getting back into the flow of things... I'm let go. T_T So job hunting for me. Weee. But I did take something from that experience, I realized that I NEED to get my act together and focus on what I love doing. So I'm trying to get myself in gear and build up momentum to open my Etsy shop (finally). Still just hunting for part time work but also working on some patterns to get my dream going. Sooo, I hope I can get it together and make it happen! *determined look*

Well, enough of that, got to get back to work. :3 I'm planning on a progress update later this week/early next week to show what I have so far.

Wish me luck and thanks for reading!

It's been a while...

I've tried to keep myself busy by finishing the many projects I have hanging around from eons ago and I've actually managed to finish a good number of them. Unfortunately the weather has been awful so not much spam to share but I did manage to snag a few during a BJD meetup that I recently went to.

Here is the dress that I finally seamed up and sewed up an over skirt for. I can't decide if I should add a self fabric ruffle to the bottom of the over skirt or if that would be too much... I'll think it over for now. :3 The cute little guy is a friend's Pukifee Pong, Rawr, he was too cute. X3

And I must say her horns came out rather nicely after painting the roses dark red and sealing them. The roses are shinier than I would have liked but I only have a gloss and semi-gloss sealer.

I've also gotten off on a tangent and started some new projects. ^_^"

Just for fun I crocheted this bear set for my Puki and was really pleased with how it turned out. I'm tweaking the pattern that I managed to write from memory since I usually free hand and forget to write a pattern as I go. *head smack*

That's it for the time being and I hope that next time I can really get into my prototype projects for my Etsy store (soon to be opening... I hope). :3 Also, I'm going to be moving back to Oregon from Washington so my projects will probably have to be put on hold, of course the blog as well but here's hoping that this isn't the case. *crosses fingers*

Not enough time!

Gosh I've been busy lately! Not much time for blogging since I've been trying to make myself sew/craft more often. I'm such a procrastinator. >.>
Anywho, I started this blog with the intent to share my tries at making my own miniatures and just sharing random info that I enjoy so on that note, I read a post the other day that suggested placing a notecard over the flash. This is intended to improve lighting when taking photos indoors without the usual harsh glare from the flash. I figured I'd give it a try and these are a few very quick pictures I took.

I think the clutter in the background didn't help my lighting so next time I'll take the time to set things up a little more. I also have a feeling it's going to take several tries to get a great picture (these were the best out of 15-20ish) but over all I do think the covered flash photos have a better and truer color compaired to the photo without flash. I'll have to try this in future photos. ^_^"

Back from the beach...

I've been absent for a while since I've been on a beach trip and then had to work once we got back without any breaks. @_@ So not much time for blogging and I still have a few things to catch up on but I figured I'd share a few things before another month goes by. >.>

I found a couple cute miniatures at some antique shops while at the beach.

Blue Enamel Coffee Pot and Teacup

This cute little tea cup just had to come along with me, I mean, look at how TINY it is. <3 It's a pewter piece that is hand painted using this pretty blue color.

Tiny Teacup

But I must say that the blue enamel coffee pot is my favorite. It goes perfectly with my love of old and woodsy chic (that made no sense I know ;P). I wanted a nice accent for this set so I made these little place mats and napkins. I'm thinking of making some more in some different colors.

Blue Enamel Coffee Pot and Donuts

Lastly, I also bought these cute matchboxes to make little suitcases out of them. Hopefully I can work on these in the next week or so. :3

Matchboxes

And just for fun, an action shot. :D

Oops...

Well it happened, I burned my last batch of polymer clay. T_T

Antlers (burned)

Here you can see the antlers didn't totally burn. Actually, I kind of like the look... hmm. I can't decide if I should just glaze them as is or try to paint the flowers. :/

Unfortunately the other figures that were in this batch didn't come out as well.

My first burned batch

Let's see if you can make out the charred remains:

- Antlers
- Unicorn horns (I think I can still paint them)
- Macaroons (I'll just toss these, too many little spaces to fiddle with)
- Cigarette (A sort of "request" from a friend, again I think paint might fix it)

Oh well, you win some, you lose some. I'm thinking tiny crochet for the next post, I've been wanting a lacy capelet for my tiny BJD (ball-jointed doll). :D

More Tiny Things and A New Project

Old Mushrooms

There have been a few other projects I've finished in the last week or so. They've mostly been using polymer clay but I've had a few miniatures using other materials.

paperbags

Here's a couple of paper bags I folded from 100% recycled paper, the larges being about 1 1/2 in. tall.
(I really need to remember to measure all these up with a proper ruler and not just guesstimate. :P

Pretty Planter

And here's a planter that I had bought already made with the intention of painting oh say... two months ago. Yes, I work fast. :D
I finally sat down to paint it all one color but I started painting the rose and the design came from there. I liked it so much I didn't know what else to add to it, at least something that wouldn't make it too busy. I might add some real or embroidered moss around the top edges and maybe just use it as a vase to hold pretty flowers, not sure yet. We shall see.

Antlers (pre-baking)

I've had a love at first sight with Mori (forest) Girl fashion from the get go and I've been seeing a lot more antler themed looks going around the blogosphere and such that I figured I'd give some small antlers a try. I just have to find the time to bake them, maybe tonight... I hope. :3 Haven't burned anything yet!

And just for fun a close up of the tiny raspberry from the previous post.
Teeny Tiny Raspberry

Well off to work now, maybe I can sneak in some crocheting. ;D

Tiny obsession...

I've finally settled on miniatures, crafts, and ball-jointed dolls for this blog. Of course I'll also insert a bit of randomness once in a while, it's me after all. ^_^"

I'm horrid at introductions so I'll just dive in and wait to post a formal intro later. >.> Bear with me here...

Yay, my first picture!
... Sorry, I'm easily entertained. Haha!

Anywho... I've been on a tiny kick recently and have been trying my hand at making miniatures using polymer clay. So far I've been doing great, haven't burned one yet at least. Hehe. The photo above is actually of a trio of red cap mushrooms that I sculpted using Super Sculpey and painted with acrylics after baking.

These are all the sweets I've made thus far. Hopefully you can make all of them out.
- Blue bubblegum icecream cone
- Wrapped candies
- Cherry tart
- Cookies filled with raspberry jam
- Donuts
- Sucker (was aiming for a blowpop type wrapper... but that didn't work out so well)
- And a teeny, tiny raspberry! My favorite, it took quite a long time. I have to see if I can't figure out a better, faster way of making them.

That's it for now, I have a few projects in the works and a few others to share but still need to edit some photos.
